New FAQ released yesterday confirming 50% Lords & 50% Heros now in all games
AMENDMENTS Page 134 – Lords Replace both paragraphs with: “You can spend up to 50% of your points on Lords. Lords are the most powerful characters in your army, individuals possessed of fearsome martial or magical might.”
Page 134 – Heroes Replace both paragraphs with: “You can spend up to 50% of your points on Heroes. Heroes are lesser characters, not as intrinsically deadly as Lords, but still worth a score of ordinary warriors.”
Page 135 – Army Selection Summary Table Replace “Lords – Up to 25%” with “Lords – Up to 50%” Replace “Heroes – Up to 25%” with “Heroes – Up to 50%”
Page 162 – Spell Generation At the end of the second paragraph, add: “The Lore of Undeath is available to any Wizard.” (see Warhammer Battle Magic: Lore of Undeath or Warhammer: Nagash, available in digital format at www.games-workshop.com)
Finally the thin crust of skulls underneath the warhammer world makes sense...it's so everyone can summon the undead!
Murphy's Laws of Combat (excerpts); - If it's stupid but it works, it isn't stupid - Never forget that your weapon was made by the lowest bidder - Field experience is something you don't get until just after you need it
All because it's 50% dpest mean you have to take 50%. It does open up more monstrous lord's and hero's and does take away the dilemma of which heroes to take eg I can now take a cauldron, peg Bsb and support wizards. But those points have to come from somewhere else in your list.
As I saw posted elsewhere, Steadfast will still keep a lot of stuff at bay. And there's nothing to prevent people from having an arrangement to play as per the 25%... However I'll be off painting up Goblin characters....
Imperial Guard. Yes, the pay is lousy, the battles are fierce and you may never see home again. But they did give you a laser gun.....
As Tom said you CAN take 50% lords but ultimately will your army be better off for it? For WoC you'd be missing out on skullcrushers or knights for example. The same problem comes up in any list. We may well house-rule it at pigmar but at the moment I'm not convinced it will break the game; particularly at 2400 as opposed to lower points levels.
Painted in 2014: As far as I can tell 143 Painted in 2015: 66 Painted in 2016: 12
I play Skaven and don't really benefit too much from this (spam slaves all the way!). I would imagine the benefits will be slightly limited to the armies that have a slightly more elite based agenda anyway.
